Challenge

Tufud’s integrations microservice was a Spring Boot server responsible for connecting to third-party ERPs. The problem: no observability, no resilience strategies, and a stack that was oversized for the project’s actual scope. Every error was a mystery, every traffic spike crashed the system, and the infrastructure costs were out of proportion to what was needed. The technical team was working part-time and lacked expertise in Spring Boot, just as several clients were about to migrate to new ERPs. It was urgent to establish a solid foundation before that happened.

Solution

We used spec-driven development with Claude Code to analyze the existing microservice as the source of truth, define the scope, and develop the new service in Go using AWS Fargate. The process was divided into four stages: analysis, development and validation, testing with the first customer in production, and full rollout. All of this was carried out by one senior developer working part-time.
